Has Cost IDR 42.2 Billion, Rehabilitation In Pengga Central Lombok Completed December 31, 2025
The optimization of irrigation channels in a sustainable manner to strengthen water distribution is more efficient and equitable. The reason is, apart from agricultural intensification, this rehabilitation is also useful for supporting food self-sufficiency according to President Prabowo Subianto's direction.
Therefore, the Ministry of Public Works (PU) has begun to rehabilitate the Pengga Irrigation Area (DI) in Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
The rehabilitation of DI Pengga was carried out by the Southeast Nusa Tenggara 1 Mataram River Basin Center (BBWS) of the Directorate General of Water Resources of the Ministry of Public Works for 260 calendar days.
"Starting April 16, and is targeted for completion on December 31, 2025," said PU Minister Dody Hanggodo as quoted from his written statement, Wednesday, July 16.
The construction work was carried out by contractor PT Rafa Unggul Sejahtera Langgeng with a contract value of Rp42.2 billion.
"Currently, physical progress has reached 7.20 percent, while financial progress is 20 percent," he said.
The rehabilitation of DI Pengga includes two districts in West Nusa Tenggara Province, namely Central Lombok Regency (primary channel 4.6 kilometers in Southwest Praya District) and West Lombok Regency (secondary channel 3.2 kilometers in Kuripan and Gerung Districts).
This rehabilitation activity includes repairing channels with precast concrete, rehabilitating one building in the primary channel, four buildings in the secondary channel and replacing 10 floodgates.

With the rehabilitation of Pengga irrigation network, Dody hopes that the planting index (IP) of 300 percent can be maintained with a 100 percent rice planting pattern and a combination of 25 percent rice and 75 percent rice.
"So, increasing rice production by 4 to 6 tons per hectare," said Dody.
Meanwhile, one of the farmers named Wayan Kurta expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Public Works who continues to be committed to supporting food irrigation infrastructure in Central Lombok.
"Previously we only planted sweet potatoes and corn, now we can grow rice because of this irrigation canal. We hope that the harvest will increase after the rehabilitation is complete. We represent farmers here who are very grateful for the attention of the Minister (Dody)," he said.
