Kendrick Lamar Becomes A Lecturer At One University In The United States
JAKARTA - Popularityking Lamar is entering a different stage. The California rapper is rumored to be a subject of a course at a university in the United States.
According to a NBC10 report, Temple University located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania offers a Kendrick Lamar and Moral Lecturer of MAD City" available to all students for the 2025 Fall semester.
The course will be organized by Timothy Welbeck, a professor from the Department of Africology and African-American Studies who is also the Director of the Center for Anti-Rasism at Temple University.
Previously, Welbeck had taught classes based on the work of Tupac Shakur, Beyonc\'e, to Jay Z\'en'ert\'en\'en\'en\'e.
"Kendrick Lamar is one of the determining voices of his generation. And in many ways, both art and life reflect the experiences of Black people in various precise ways," Welbeck said.
The professor believes that the 38-year-old rapper's journey in actualizing himself is related to the experiences of the Black.
"The current head of my department is very open to the idea and immediately accept it," Welbeck said.
"In many ways, our department at Temple in particular, and Temple more broadly has embraced hip-hop studies in academic spaces."
For information, Lamar made history with his Super Bowl Halftime Show appearance earlier this year. He was accompanied by SZA and criticized Drake and his lawsuit against Universal Music Group.
