Bandung Firefighters Evacuation Of 4 Students Trapped In The Rock Of The Palace

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Fire and Rescue Service (Disdamkarmat) evacuated four students trapped in the Keraton Cliff area, Bandung, West Java.

The operator of the Emergency Rescue Team of the Disdamkarmat City of Bandung, Andri, explained that his party received the incident report at 13.31 WIB through a report received from one of the victims.

"Based on the information we received, they were several hundred meters from the Keraton Cliff Post," Andri said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 15.

Andri said the four students were known to have started their journey from Pos 1 Taman Hutan Raya (Tahura) Ir. H. Djuanda at around 07.00 WIB with the aim of Curugmas. They arrived at the curug at around 10.30 WIB and rested until 11.30 WIB.

After that, the four victims continued their journey to the Keraton Cliff by choosing an extreme route until they ended up trapped on a steep cliff.

"Initially they tried to contact SAR, but because they were not connected, they finally contacted us via WhatsApp," he said.

After receiving the report, his party immediately coordinated with the Bandung Regency Fire Department and the PMI Bandung City medical team to go to the location.

The main challenge is to find their location point because the initial position is not clear. We had rotated about 700 meters from the starting point of the decline until the location of the victim was found," he said.

According to him, the four students were successfully evacuated at 15.37 WIB in a safe condition and only had bruises on their legs.

When found, they were in a state of shock and began to run out of logistics. They only brought 1.5 liters of water and some snacks," he said.

Andri explained that even though it was on a steep terrain, the victim could still access cell phone signals so that they could send the last location to the rescue team.

"We urge the public to be more careful when exploring the open world, make sure to choose the right path and always coordinate with local officials," said Andri.
