Indonesian Foreign Minister Expects China To Play An Active Role In Encouraging Economic Integration Of Inclusive Areas
JAKARTA - Indonesia hopes that China will play an active role in encouraging the economic integration of an inclusive region, strengthening partnerships with ASEAN.
This was said by the Indonesian Foreign Minister, Sugiono when receiving an honorary visit from the Chinese Ambassador to the ASEAN Hou Yanqi on Tuesday, discussing the follow-up to the results of the ASEAN-China Post Ministerial Conference (PMC) which was held in Malaysia last week.
Foreign Minister Sugiono on this occasion emphasized the importance of synergy between ASEAN and China in realizing a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region.
"China's ASEAN Partnership is one of the main pillars in maintaining regional economic stability and growth. Indonesia supports the implementation of various concrete cooperations that can provide tangible benefits for the people of ASEAN," said Foreign Minister Sugiono at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tuesday, July 15.
Foreign Minister Sugiono and Ambassador Yanqi also discussed the plan to implement the ASEAN 'China Plan of Action 2026'30, the plan to sign an ACFTA (ASEAN' China Free Trade Area) 3.0 at the ASEAN-China Summit next October, as well as regional cooperation within the framework of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) at this meeting.
In addition, the Indonesian Foreign Minister appreciated the commitment of the Bamboo Curtain Country to sign the SEANWFZ Protocol (Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone) without reservation.
This is considered an important contribution to efforts to maintain long-term peace and stability in the Southeast Asian region.

China itself has been ASEAN's comprehensive strategic partner since 2021, and has been listed as ASEAN's largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years.
"We hope that China will continue to play an active role in encouraging the economic integration of an inclusive region and exploring various potential collaborations that have not been utilized optimally," concluded Foreign Minister Sugiono.
