Minister Of Environment And Forestry To Summon The Director Of The Company Regarding Jakarta Air Pollution
JAKARTA - Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq will summon all directors of companies and heads of related agencies in an effort to find a way out to suppress air pollution that occurs in Jakarta and its surroundings.
"We will try to summon all levels of directors and directors and deputies in charge of air quality in Jakarta," said Minister of Environment/Head of the Environmental Control Agency (BPLH) Hanif during a test event for the emission of goods trucks in North Jakarta on Tuesday, July 15.
"We will start calling the directors at BUMN, at the Ministry, at the Head of the Agency who is responsible for causing air quality to worsen in Jabodetabek, whose numbers are increasing. The Heads of Service are no exception in the Special Region of Jakarta," he continued.
The summons is a form of fulfilling the responsibility as Minister of the Environment in supervising and ensuring a healthy environment for the community.
He also emphasized that the summons was part of the authority of the Minister as stated in Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management.
In particular, Article 77, which states that the minister can apply administrative sanctions to the person in charge of business and/or activities if it is considered that the local government does not apply administrative sanctions to serious violations in the field of environmental protection and management.
"State officials are obliged to prepare a good environment for their people, including us as the main organizers. We are actually the ones who sit here, who make, who compose how we actually have to handle this emission or we don't handle it," he said.
