Puan Maharani: Discussion Of The Criminal Procedure Code Bill Will Be Open And Not In A Hurry

Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, confirmed that the discussion of the Draft Law on the Criminal Procedure Code (RUU KUHAP) was carried out openly and not in a hurry.

Puan explained that the DPR through Commission III would invite experts and the public to discuss changes to the Criminal Procedure Code together.

"Regarding the Criminal Procedure Code, the DPR, of course, is still in the process of being discussed. And we held the discussion openly, inviting parties that we really had to invite together to discuss it," said Puan, Tuesday, July 15.

He added that Commission III of the DPR is still holding hearings (RDP) and public hearings (RDPU) to ask for input from various elements of society.

Puan emphasized that the discussion of the Criminal Procedure Code would not be carried out in a hurry to produce quality legal products. After the discussion process is complete, his party will immediately announce it to the public.

"If it has not been widely opened so far, it is because the process is still ongoing, namely RDP, RDPU, and asking for input from all parties in various elements of society," said Puan.

“Kami tidak terburu-buru, karena proses ini sudah berjalan sejak beberapa bulan lalu, dari sidang-sidang sebelumnya. Nanti kami akan membuka pembahasan ini pada waktunya,” pungkasnya.

"We are not in a hurry, because this process has been running since a few months ago, from previous hearings. Later we will open this discussion in due course," he concluded.
