Five Days Before Homecoming Ban, KAI Sends 58,629 Passengers To All Corners Of Java
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api (KAI) Operation Area 1 Jakarta dispatched 58,629 passengers before the homecoming ban was enforced starting Thursday, May 6, to a number of destination cities in West Java, Central Java and East Java, both from Pasar Senen Station and Gambir Station, Central Jakarta.
Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Operation Area 1 Jakarta, Eva Chairunisa, stated that the number consisted of 17,563 Gambir Station and 41,066 passengers from Pasar Senen Station during the period 1-5 May 2021.
She said that during the travel control period, KAI did not increase the number of train trips (KA) long-distance from Jakarta, which is still 16-19 trains departing from Gambir Station and 20 trains from Pasar Senen Station.
"The number of trains and the availability of seats in the past week has not changed, ranging from 17 to 20 trains. "Eva said, as reported by Antara, Thursday, May 6.
Meanwhile, on D-1 the ban on homecoming was in effect, there were 5,781 passengers departing from Gambir Station and 10,055 passengers from Pasar Senen station with a maximum seating capacity limitation of 70 percent.
Based on data compiled from KAI Operation Area 1 Jakarta, the number of departing passengers has increased significantly, namely for Gambir Station from 2,665 passengers on Saturday, May 1, to 5,781 passengers on Wednesday, 5 May.

Meanwhile, at Pasar Senen Station, the number of passengers increased from 6,904 departing on Saturday, May 1, to 10,055 passengers on Wednesday, May 5.
During the homecoming ban from May 6 to May 17, 2021, only seven long-distance trains (KAJJ) will operate, including four KAJJ departing from Gambir Station and three KAJJ departing from Pasar Senen Station heading to Tegal, Purwokerto, Purwosari, Solo, Surabaya, and Malang.
KAI Operation Area 1 Jakarta ensures that KAJJ operations in this period are not for serving people who want to go hometown for Lebaran, but only for urgent trips.
The use of trains is only valid for non-homecoming purposes. Prospective passengers are required to have obtained an operational permit from the Government, which is in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministerial Regulation and Circular Letter issued by the government such as the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Circular Number 13 of 2021 and the Letter of the Director-General of Railways Number HK.701/1/10/DJKA/2021 on April 30, 2021.
