GBK 'Gives Up' Management Apologizes

JAKARTA The inappropriate sound that came out of one of the speakers in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Jakarta, shocked visitors and went viral on social media. The incident was recorded in a video uploaded to the Instagram account @info_jabodetabek.

In the short video, there is a sound of a woman's urge from a public speaker attached to the edge pole of the GBK park.

A visitor who recorded the incident admitted to hearing the sound from the parking area. Usually, speakers at GBK are used to play music or make announcements, but this time they actually make sounds that are considered indecent.

The viral video has drawn various responses from netizens and the public. Many regret that this incident occurred in public spaces which are often used for sports and family activities.

Responding to the incident, the Management of the Bung Karno Complex Management Center (PPK-GBK) immediately issued an official statement.

They apologized for the incident which was considered to tarnish the image of the GBK area.

"The PPKGBK management apologized for the inappropriate voice incident which was heard through loudspeakers in the public area," the management wrote in a statement.

Furthermore, PPK-GBK stated that it would tighten supervision of content broadcast through public speakers. They also promised to provide technical disciplinary training to officers, as an effort to prevent similar incidents from recurring.

"We understand that GBK is a public space that is respected and used by various circles of society, including children and families. We regret this incident and are committed to improving the quality of supervision and service as a whole," said GBK management.
