Tanah Abang Market Crowded With Visitors, Street Vendors

Regarding the curbs on the sidewalks of Tanah Abang Market, the Head of the Satpol PP of Tanah Abang Subdistrict, Budi Salamun, stated that sidewalks are the right of pedestrians, so traders must also know the sidewalk boundaries for the visually impaired so that they are not occupied for selling goods.

"If we exceed or take the road, we are forced to take action," Budi said at the location quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 5.

However, after the officers left after carrying out the action, the merchants took out their merchandise again.

Budi himself admitted that his party had advised traders not to sell on the shoulder of the road or the sidewalk.

The number of personnel deployed is 600 joint personnel of the TNI and Polri. If there are a total of 1000 people consisting of the TNI, Polri.

"For police personnel of about 600, the total is almost a thousand people," he said.

Previously, the closing time for Tanah Abang Market, Central Jakarta underwent a change during the implementation of health protocol surveillance controls.

President Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Arief Nasrudin, stated that the market closing time is divided into two times, namely 16.00 and 17.00 WIB.

"Stores on odd floors are asked to close at 16.00 WIB and those on even floors close at 17.00 WIB," said Arief in a written statement, Monday, May 3.

According to him, this is to prevent the buildup of visitors going out simultaneously.

In addition, Arief urged visitors not to accumulate buyers in just one location.
