OIKN Narrows Prostitution Room At IKN With Strict Lodging Rules

The Capital Archipelago Authority (OIKN) has narrowed the space for prostitution practices at IKN by asking business owners in the field of accommodation or lodging to tighten regulations for inn service users.

"We are narrowing the space for prostitution or the space for pramunikmats to carry out activities at IKN," said Deputy for Social, Culture and Community Empowerment of the IKN Authority Alimuddin as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, July 12.

This step is one of the efforts of the OIKN, the Regency Government (Pemkab) of North Penajam Paser, as well as the TNI and Polri, to clean up prostitution practices in the IKN area.

Lodging such as guest houses, hotels, and inns, as well as others, he said, was asked to tighten the rules to prevent prostitution in the IKN area and its surroundings.

"We have invited inn business owners to participate in cleaning up prostitution practices by tightening strict rules for service users," he said.

He said don't be afraid to lose sustenance because of strict rules at lodging. According to him, many good people come to visit and live in IKN. "So don't worry about less customers," said Alimuddin.

Deputy for OIKN Development Control Thomas Umbu Pati Tena Bolodadi added that his party collaborated with the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol) North Penajam Paser Regency and law enforcement officers in the field.

Social phenomena such as the practice of prostitution, he said, existed long before the construction of IKN began, so it was hoped that a narrative would not appear that cornered or blamed the existence of IKN as the cause of the problem.

"Let's all talk based on the correct data and context, the image of IKN at the national and international levels is greatly influenced by how to build and manage cities including the accommodation sector," he said.

He said it was important for all elements of society to maintain ethics, build professional service standards, and encourage healthy and responsible business practices.
