Germany's Backpacker Found Selamat Usai 12 Hari Hilang Di Pendalaman Australia
Australian authorities found a 26-year-old German backpacker safe and healthy after missing in a remote northwestern area of the country for nearly two weeks.
Carolina Wilga, which disappeared on June 29 from near the hinterland city of Banton, about 254 km (157 miles) north of the Western Australian state capital, Perth, was discovered by a motorist passing by roads in the area on Friday, July 11.
"This is a great relief to his family and everyone he loves," Detective Jessica Securo said on Saturday, July 12, in a televised news conference from Perth.
"Finding Carolina safe and healthy is a fantastic result," he continued.
Wilga was flown to hospital in Perth, and his condition is stable, authorities said.
The backpacker climber was "attacked by mosquitoes" while stranded on hard terrain and found fatigue, dehydration, and was injured and bruised, police said.
