KKP Seals Fish Processing Unit In Ambon As A Result Of Not Fulfilling Quality Standards
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has sealed the Fish Processing Unit (UPI) which is suspected of operating not in accordance with the provisions in Ambon City, Maluku, Monday, July 7.
The company with the initials PT CLA is indicated to not meet and apply the requirements for feasibility of fish processing, quality assurance and safety of fishery products.
The Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the KKP Pung Nugroho Saksono (Ipunk) emphasized the importance of compliance with licensing provisions as a guarantee of the feasibility of fish processing is safe for public consumption.
"As stipulated, the processing process of fish and fishery products must meet the feasibility requirements for fish processing, quality and safety insurance systems for fishery products," said Ipunk as quoted from his written statement, Friday, July 11.
Ipunk explained, there are a total of 26 tons of tuna in the form of Tuna Loin, Tuna Saku, Tuna Cube and Ground Meat which are indicated to have not met and implemented the requirements for feasibility of fish processing, quality and safety guarantees for fishery products.
The sealing action carried out by the Fishery Supervisory of PSDKP Ambon Station was marked by the installation of a temporary suspension of Fish Processing Unit activities, as referred to in Article 66C paragraph (1) letter l of Law Number 31 of 2004 concerning Fisheries as amended by Law Number 45 of 2009 in conjunction with Article 20 Paragraph (2) letter a Regulation of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Number 4 of 2025 concerning Amendments to Regulation of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Number 47 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of Fisheries Supervisory Tasks.
"We are temporarily suspending the operation of this fish processing unit for further processing in accordance with applicable regulations, including the obligation of business actors to fulfill the specified permits," he said.
