Dedi Mulyadi Admits West Java Has A Piles Of Debt: We Pay IDR 1.2 Trillion For The Sake Of Children's Certificates

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi or KDM revealed the financial condition of the West Java Provincial Government which is facing large debt pressures and low budget absorption in 2025.

In his morning greeting uploaded via social media, Dedi admitted that only Rp. 31 trillion of the total APBD of Rp. 37 trillion could actually be managed.

Unmitigated, most of the funds have been "locked" to pay a number of obligations, including the debt of National Economic Recovery (PEN) to BPJS dues arrears.

The 2025 West Java budget is IDR 37 trillion. But the real thing that can be used is only IDR 31 trillion. Because IDR 6 trillion must be divided into districts/cities as a profit-sharing fund for vehicle taxes," said Dedi in a video monitored in Bandung, Antara, Thursday, July 10.

He added, of the Rp31 trillion, it still had to be reduced to pay various financial expenses that had matured.

"You have to pay PEN debt of Rp600 billion, BPJS Rp334 billion, Kertajati Airport operations of Rp60 billion, Al-Jabbar Mosque of Rp40 billion, and the most suspended student diplomas, worth Rp1.2 trillion," he said.

Dedi said that the payment of student diploma arrears is a form of the government's moral responsibility to the younger generation.

A total of almost Rp600 billion has been used to compensate for the return of diplomas. This is a form of responsibility for our children whose rights are withheld," he said.

According to him, in such a strict financial condition, the provincial government continues to strive to maintain priority programs such as road repairs, scholarships, religious stimulus, and environmental reforestation.

"We still want the road in West Java to be good, disaster to be handled quickly, education to run, and there are scholarships for santri and stimulus for religious servants," said KDM.

He also invited the public to pray for the wheels of government to continue in budget constraints. "Hopefully with this limited money, we can still work optimally for the community. Please pray for me," concluded Dedi.

Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian had highlighted West Java's financial performance at the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting, Monday, July 7.

According to Tito, West Java, which used to be the province with the best absorption of the APBD, now must be willing to go down to third place nationally, under the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"In the past, West Java was number one, now Kang Dedi Mulyadi is losing to Ngarso Dalem Sri Sultan. And Pak Lalu Iqbal from NTB is now above West Java. Great father," said Tito.

According to Tito, NTB can exceed West Java due to solid and disciplined teamwork, ranging from BKAD, Bapenda, to all regional apparatus organizations (OPD).
