Update On COVID-19 As Of May 5: New Cases Of 5,285, Active Cases 98,217

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. Of the 79,318 specimens examined, there was an addition of 5,285 new cases.

"So that the total accumulation of confirmed positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia reached 1,691,658", he said, Wednesday, May 5.

Cases recovered per day also increased by 5,943 with a total accumulation of 1,547,092. Meanwhile, 212 confirmed positive cases died, bringing the total accumulation to 16,349.

The Ministry of Health explained that West Java is the province with the most cases added. As of today, the province has recorded 995 new positive cases, bringing the total cases there to 284,835.

Furthermore, DKI Jakarta recorded an additional 845 cases, bringing the total cases in the capital city to 411,573. Next, Central Java experienced an additional 530 cases, bringing the total cases in the province to 185,526.

Meanwhile, the province with the highest number of recovered cases was West Java, namely 1,287 people, bringing the total to 251,863 people.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Health explained that the number of specimens that had been examined reached 14,926,016, with details using real-time PCR as many as 13,408,185 specimens; TCM 173,836 specimens; and antigen 1,343,995 specimens.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate of 17.45 percent", he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or those categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 76,660. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.

The Ministry of Health also explained that 12,832,886 people had received the first stage vaccination and 8,151,942 people had received the second stage vaccination. The vaccination target is 40,349,049 people.
