Tickets For The Ludes Train Sold 4.42 Million During The School Holiday, Okupansi Tembus 118 Percent
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI noted that many people use trains to mobilize during the school holiday season.
The public's interest is reflected in ticket sales which reached more than 4.42 million.
KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba said that from June 20 to July 12, 2025, train ticket sales reached 4,424,115 tickets, or the equivalent of 118.70 percent of the total capacity of 3,726,986 seats available for that period.
"This figure shows the high enthusiasm of the community to use rail-based transportation modes and is expected to continue to increase as the holiday period is not over yet," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, July 9.
Anne said occupancy above 100 percent is possible thanks to the dynamic service system, where one seat can be used by more than one customer alternately at various stations along the route.
According to Anne, the high sales volume was also driven by the success of the 30 percent discount program for Commercial Economic Trains.
Of the quota of 3,529,612 seats offered from June 5 to July 31, 2025, 2,539,945 tickets have been sold, or 72 percent until July 9 morning from the total quota.
Furthermore, Anne assessed, this success reflects public trust as well as has a positive effect on the regional economy.
The increase in train travel has had a direct impact on the community around the station and tourist destinations. Food stalls, lodging, local markets, and tourist attractions also benefit. School holidays are not just a matter of travel, but about economic turnover," said Anne.
