Going To The US In The Midst Of Trump's Trade Tariff Issue, Airlangga: RI Commits To Buying Superior Products
JAKARTA - The Indonesian government, in collaboration with the private sector, continues to encourage the strengthening of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Indonesia and the United States, with a focus on developing strong, balanced, and fair trade and investment relations.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto emphasized Indonesia's commitment to strengthen cooperation with the US, including in an effort to reach an agreement on trade rates.
The economic relationship between Indonesia and the US has always been good and needs to be maintained. One of the steps to strengthen this relationship is through the commitment of Indonesian business actors to buy US superior products in the agricultural and energy sector, with a total value of 34 billion US dollars," said Airlangga in his statement, Wednesday, July 9.
To achieve this goal, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, DC, held a series of high-level business meetings on July 7, 2025.
Indonesian industrial leaders from strategic sectors such as energy and agriculture, including PT. Pertamina, and PT. Clothing Apparel Group (representing the Indonesian Textile Association), FKS Group, Sorini Agro Asia Corporindo (as a member of the Indonesian Corn Cleaning Manufacturers Association), and the Indonesian Wheat Flour Producers Association, are involved in productive discussions with their partners in the United States.
In terms of a number of US industrial figures, they also expressed enthusiasm for this cooperation. One of them, ExxonMobil, who is proud to support Indonesia's energy needs.
"We present decades of experience, global supply capability, and long-term commitment to becoming a trusted energy partner," said President Director of Exxonmobil Indonesia Wade Floyd.
"Indonesia has become a great partner for us in the US cotton industry, which is usually one of our top 10 export markets," said Cotton Council International Bryan Wzzard.
"Indonesia is an important country for us in many ways. We hope that this Memorandum of Understanding and Purchase of first corn will mark the start of a closer and longer-term partnership that continues to grow over time," said Cargill representative Anne Murphy.
"Indonesia has long been an important customer, with increasing demand for high-quality American agricultural products." said Zen-Noh Grain Corporation representative, Robert Cruise.

"We believe that this partnership can create thousands of quality jobs, support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and increase the exchange of knowledge and technology in both countries," said Deputy Ambassador / Ad Interim Business Authority, Indonesian Embassy to the United States Sade Bimantara.
Sade said that the Indonesian government has shown its commitment to foster mutually beneficial partnerships with the US, which are rooted in the principle of mutual respect and mutual commitment to progress.
He hopes that this commitment can build future-oriented economic relations that benefit both countries and contribute to regional and global prosperity.
