Floods Hit 8 Villages In Karawang, Hundreds Of Houses Submerged
Hundreds of houses spread across eight villages in about three sub-districts of Karawang Regency, West Java were flooded due to the overflowing of a number of rivers in the area.
Head of the Karawang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Emergency and Logistics Agency (BPBD), Ferry Muharam said that the floods in the eight villages occurred due to high rainfall on Monday (7/8) which triggered the overflow of several river water.
Hundreds of houses that were flooded include the occurrence in Karangligar, Mekarmulya, Mulyajaya, and Parungsari villages, Telukjambe Barat District.
In addition, floods also occurred in Sukaharja and Sukamakmur villages, Telukjambe Timur sub-district and hit Tanjungmekar and Karawang Kulon sub-districts, West Karawang sub-district.
The water level in the eight flood-hit villages varies.
"The worst flood point occurred in Karangligar Village, the water level reached about 2 meters," said Ferry, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 9.
He said the floods that hit the eight villages submerged more than 100 houses. This condition forced residents affected by the floods to evacuate to safer places.
A team from the Karawang BPBD, he said, had evacuated residents to a safer place. In addition, the Karawang BPBD also continues to distribute logistics to residents affected by the flood.

The floods that occurred in about the three sub-districts were not only due to high rainfall in the Karawang area. However, it was also due to the overflow of the Citarum, Cibeet and Cidawolong rivers.
In addition to submerging residential areas, the flood also submerged roads, educational facilities and rice fields.
