After The Complete Revision Of The Criminal Procedure Code, The DPR Aims For The Asset-Police Confiscation Bill

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Adies Kadir, hopes that the Draft Law on the Criminal Procedure Code (RUU KUHAP) will be completed soon because there are two more urgent bills to discuss.

"Why are we asking for it quickly? There are two draft laws that are also waiting for this Criminal Procedure Code, including the Police Bill and the Asset Confiscation Bill," said Adies, Tuesday, June 8.

In addition to this reason, Adies explained that the Criminal Procedure Code Bill must be completed immediately in order to be synchronized with the Criminal Procedure Code which is still in effect at this time.

"In addition to synchronizing, it also adjusts to the current conditions," said the Golkar Party politician.

Adies alluded to the witness perpetrator or justice collaborator (JC) who was a concern in the Criminal Procedure Code Bill. According to him, the existence of JC which was accommodated in the Criminal Procedure Code must be synchronized immediately.

"So that law enforcement officers, police and prosecutors, courts and lawyers and law seekers can get true justice," he said.

Adies is optimistic that Commission III of the DPR will soon complete the discussion of the Criminal Procedure Code Bill. This is because a number of parties have finished providing input.

It was noted that at least there were parties who had been invited to the process of discussing the Criminal Procedure Code, ranging from students to advocates.

"Stakeholders related to the law are all invited to talk about why because this is the basis for criminal law that will cover all other lex specialis laws, in the field of criminal law. Because this is the basis," he said.
