Flood Alert! Jakarta Weather July 9: Rain In The Afternoon-night

JAKARTA The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts light rain will flush a number of areas in DKI Jakarta on Wednesday, July 9 afternoon until the evening. The public is advised to remain vigilant, especially considering the large floods that just hit Jakarta on Sunday night, July 6.

On its official website quoted by ANTARA, BMKG said that the weather in the Jakarta area today will vary, ranging from cloudy to light rain, with air temperatures ranging from 2628 degrees Celsius.

West Jakarta is expected to be cloudy from morning to evening. Light rain is predicted to fall starting at 19.00 WIB, followed by thick cloudy weather at night. The average temperature was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius.

Central Jakarta is predicted to be cloudy all day and night with relatively stable temperatures at 26 degrees Celsius.

South Jakarta is forecasted to be cloudy in the morning to noon, and will experience light rain in the afternoon until evening. The air temperature is also around 26 degrees Celsius.

East Jakarta will experience cloudy conditions in the morning and during the day. Light rain is expected to fall around 16.00 WIB, before cloudy again at night. The temperature of this area is also around 26 degrees Celsius.

North Jakarta is predicted to be cloudy throughout the day with an average temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, while the Thousand Islands will experience light rain in the morning at around 07.00 WIB, before cloudy to evening. The average temperature in this region reaches 28 degrees Celsius.

BMKG reminded the public to remain alert to potential puddles and floods, especially at vulnerable points, following flood events that occurred a few days ago.

As is known, the floods that hit the capital city on Sunday night (6/7) were caused by three main factors: floods sent from upstream, high local rainfall, and tidal waves due to rising sea level. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that the incident was the biggest challenge during his tenure.

A total of 600 water pumps were deployed by the DKI Provincial Government to control flooding, although a number of units were damaged due to high workloads.

However, the government has succeeded in reducing the height of inundation in various strategic areas such as the HI Roundabout and the State Palace, and ensuring that residents' activities can return to normal in the morning.

With the forecast for rain to fall again today, Jakarta residents are expected to remain alert and follow the latest information from the BMKG and related officials.
