Member Of Commission III DPR: The Criminal Procedure Code Bill Becomes A Milestone Of Human Rights And Legal Certainty

Member of Commission III of the DPR RI Rikwanto said that the Draft Law (RUU) on Amendments to Law Number 8 of 1981 concerning the Law of Criminal Procedures or the Criminal Procedure Code will be a milestone of human rights (HAM).

"INsyaallah, the completion of the implementation in 2025 will be a milestone for human rights," said Rikwanto at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 8.

The legislator from the Golkar Party faction also said that the Criminal Procedure Code Bill would provide justice and legal certainty. In particular, for people who are in conflict with the law.

According to Rikwanto, Commission III of the DPR RI is currently forming a Working Committee (Panja) for the Criminal Procedure Code Bill. The formation of the Panja was carried out after Commission III of the DPR RI today received a List of Problem Inventory (DIM) of the Criminal Procedure Code Bill from the government.

"We will soon form a working committee to synchronize existing inputs," he said.

He said the Panja was open to receiving input from various parties, both from the government, people who care about law, and academics. Including those processed by Commission III of the DPR RI and other legislative bodies.

"God willing, hopefully the Panja has been formed and we have already started to work before we have received input from legal observers of various circles and that is also our input," he said.

"So the point is that the new Criminal Procedure Code, God willing, brings a balance between law enforcement and legal subjects or objects, there is a balance where the authority must also be applied to problematic human rights, which must also be enforced. The point is that there is a balance," concluded Rikwanto.
