Croatia Extends Lockdown Despite Planning To Stop It

Extend 15 Days of Lockdown as How Croatia Fights COVID-19

JAKARTA - Croatia finally decided to extend the lockdown policy for 15 days, to be precise until May 4. This policy had to be taken by Croatia, which, although for some time had planned to loosen the policy.

This option was taken by the Croatian government in an effort to protect the health and safety of its citizens. Croatian Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic said this effort was to control the spread of COVID-19.

"We decided to extend the measures for 15 days until May 4," said Bozinovic, quoted by Reuters, April 20.

The regulation is a continuation of the actions of the Croatian government which previously closed all shops, bars, restaurants, schools, suspended public transport operations and left only food stores, pharmacies and gas stations.

Those who are allowed to leave their homes are those who are only those who need to buy basic necessities, seek medical care, take walks or exercise. This applies to individuals in order to maintain contact with other people.

Therefore, the Croatian government is currently exploring the possibility of relaxing certain measures to help the economy. One of them is by reducing restrictions on Croats who want to leave their homes.

The plan is for those who travel without leaving their domicile. Meanwhile, inter-regional travel is still prohibited, unless there are compelling reasons such as for medical purposes.

Not waiting long, the government has scheduled a meeting on Thursday, April 23 to discuss the above issues so that citizens can know what concessions are given by the government to revive the economy and maintain the health of its citizens.

Meanwhile, Croatia has recorded 1,832 positive cases of contracting COVID-19, of which 39 cases have died. Even so, this number is a number that is quite low compared to other countries in Europe with a significant increase every day such as Italy and Spain.
