NTB Provincial Government Sets Disaster Emergency Status In Mataram City For 10 Days

MATARAM - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) officially declared a disaster emergency status following major floods that hit a number of areas in Mataram City on Sunday, July 6.

The decision was taken at the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) meeting at the NTB Governor's Office, Monday night. This emergency status will take effect for the next 10 days.

Daily Executive (Plh) of the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of NTB Lalu Moh Faozal said the determination of emergency status was a quick step to accelerate the post-disaster recovery process.

"Starting this, we will determine the disaster emergency status which is valid for 10 days. This is so that the handling process can be faster and more coordinated," he said in Mataram, Antara, Tuesday, July 8.

During the emergency response period, the NTB Provincial Government will activate complaint posts and action posts, as well as deploy all resources including the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) to be directly involved in handling.

"The ASN Provincial Government will go down to affected locations. There is a task-sharing scheme, OPD and assistants will back up certain areas," said Faozal.

Faozal detailed that Assistant I would be responsible for the provincial office area on Jalan Majapahit, while Assistant II and III would focus on helping in the directly affected areas.

Meanwhile, for the distribution of logistical assistance, he said, the NTB Provincial Government has given full authority to the Mataram City Government (Pemkot). "The distribution of aid will be coordinated by the Mayor of Mataram because he knows the best conditions and distribution of affected areas," he said.

The meeting was attended by all elements of Forkopimda, including the NTB Police Chief, Danrem, Kajati, the Chair of the NTB DPRD, Danlanud, Danlanal, and the relevant OPD leaders.

Previously, the NTB Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that 7,676 families (KK) or 30,681 people were affected by floods due to rains that hit Mataram City and surrounding areas.

Head of BPBD NTB Ahmadi said there were six sub-districts in Mataram City that were affected by the flood, namely Sandubaya, Mataram, Cakranegara, Sekarbela, Selaparang, and Ampenan.

"There were 15 injured victims and 520 displaced victims. Meanwhile, the death toll and missing victims are still in the process of collecting data," he said.

Ahmadi explained that the rivers flowing in Mataram City overflowed and submerged residential areas due to moderate to heavy rain on Sunday (6/7) from 14.00 WITA to the afternoon.

"The incident caused dozens of cars to be dragged by floods, fallen trees, and a mobile wall around the Sandubaya Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST) collapsed towards the road.

"The current condition is conducive. The joint team together is currently cleaning up the remaining materials of the flood," he said.
