KAI Records 3.49 Million People Riding Trains In School Holidays
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI noted that it has served 3,490,916 long-distance and local train customers in all operational areas during the school holiday season.
This figure is a cumulative number from June 20 to July 6, 2025 at 24.00 WIB. This year's school holiday season is an important momentum for KAI in providing reliable and broad-impact public transportation services.
KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba said the public's high interest in rail travel peaked on July 6, 2025 yesterday, where KAI recorded a daily record of serving 235,866 customers or 140 percent of the daily seating capacity provided as many as 167,912.
According to Anne, this achievement is also thanks to the dynamic passenger service system, which is that the same seat can be used by different customers at certain stations along the departure station and final station trips.
"This condition shows that trains are not only the main choice for people to travel, but are also able to answer mobility needs efficiently," Anne said in an official statement, Monday, July 7.
As of Monday, July 7, 2025 at 10.00 WIB, KAI recorded ticket sales reaching 4,182,516 for the period from June 20 to July 12, 2025, or the equivalent of 112.24 percent of the available capacity of 3,726,531 seats.
Anne said the high sales figure was also driven by the success of the 30 percent Discount program for Commercial Economic Trains which was held from June 5 to July 31, 2025.
Of the total promo quota of 3,529,612 seats, 2,415,763 tickets have been sold or 68 percent use until July 7 morning.
"In fact, July 6, 2025 yesterday also set a record as the highest promo sales day, namely 84,615 tickets sold in one day," he explained.

Anne added that this success not only reflects public confidence in rail services, but is also a positive catalyst for the regional economy.
Every surge in customer mobility has a direct impact on people's livelihoods around stations and tourist destinations.
"We can see food stalls, lodging, local markets, and people's tourist attractions being crowded because of the increase in customer visits. School holidays are not just about traveling, but about a more equitable economic turnover," said Anne.
