Parents Must Be Alert, This Is The Cause Of Declining Children's Brain Capabilities

JAKARTA - The decline in children's brain or intelligence is very dangerous. This is because it has a significant impact on their social interactions, academic performance, and future opportunities.

Therefore, parents must be very aware of changes in the child's brain's abilities. Parents must also know that there are factors that cause a decrease in the child's brain's ability to be overcome quickly.

1. Nutrition deficiency

Nutrition is a very important foundation for cognitive development, especially in children who are still in a growing period. Important nutritional shortages can lead to lower intelligence.

Quoted from the Harvard Health page, on Monday, July 7, 2025, iron, protein, collin, folate, iodine, vitamin A, and vitamin D, are very necessary for healthy brain development. Thus, parents must fulfill the intake of these nutrients for their children so that their brain function is maintained properly.

2. Lack of sleep

Lack of sleep at the age of elementary school children causes significant differences in brain regions responsible for memory, intelligence, and well-being. Lack of sleep is also associated with difficulty solving problems and making decisions.

Research found that children sleeping less than nine hours per night had less gray matter or a smaller volume in certain areas of the brain.

It should be noted that generally children with pre-school age are advised to sleep 10-13 hours, elementary school children 9-12 hours, and junior high schools and over 8-10 hours every night.

3. Lack of stimulation

The quality of the home environment and the level of cognitive stimulation that children receive are important for their brain development. Children who grow up in an environment that stimulates intellectuals with access to books, educational toys, and interesting conversations tend to have a higher IQ score.

On the other hand, if the child experiences neglect or lack of stimulation during its growth and development, it will hinder its cognitive development.
