JAKARTA - Forest and land fires or forest and land fires on the Syrian coast have entered their fourth day on Sunday, July 6 local time. The UN team was deployed to help deal with the response.

UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Syria, Adam Abdelmoula, said hundreds of families were displaced by the fire of forest and land fires that were spreading rapidly approaching residential areas in the northwestern province of Latakia.

"Forcing hundreds of families to flee their homes, while extensive agricultural land and vital infrastructure have been destroyed," Adalam said in a statement, Monday, July 7, quoted from AP.

Adam continued, the UN team also made observations to assess the scale of the disaster and identify what urgent needs the Syrians need.

The SANA news agency managed by the Syrian government reported that the SAR team, including members of the United Nations, continued to try to prevent the flames from reaching the Al-Frunloq nature reserve, where dense forests with towering trees were beating.

The UN team includes firefighters from Turkey and Jordan. They have joined the Syrian civil defense team, providing support for dealing with disasters from the air by helicopter.

Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed Al-Saleh said forest and land fires had engulfed hundreds of thousands of trees in an area of about 10,000 hectares (38.6 square miles).

"We regret and mourn every tree that catches fire, which is a source of fresh air for us," Al-Saleh said in his X account.
