President Prabowo Affirms Rejection Of War And Double Standards At The 2025 BRICS Summit
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized Indonesia's rejection of the war and double standards, while attending the 2025 BRICS Summit plenary session (KTT) which was held at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Sunday.
In a meeting with the theme "Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance", President Prabowo conveyed Indonesia's firm stance in supporting world peace through multilateralism and justice in global governance.
"The president emphasized that he rejects war and also uses double standards. The President is in line with almost all participants pushing for multilateral reform and global social representation in global governance, especially in institutions such as the United Nations and is encouraged so that BRICS leadership can encourage fairer multilateral leadership," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto in his statement after accompanying the President, launching a statement from the BPMI Setpres, Monday, July 7.
President Prabowo also raised the importance of Bandung spirit in the BRICS forum, especially in fighting for the fate of developing countries and supporting Palestinian independence.
In Indonesia's view, BRICS needs to be a balancing force that can voice the interests of global countries of society fairly and consistently.
"The president emphasized relations with Palestine and specifically to remind Bandung spirit so that it can be brought to the forum, followed by the BRICS forum," he continued.
Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir (Tata) who accompanied the President at the summit added that most of the leaders of BRICS member countries highlighted the increasingly uncertain global situation.
"One of the issues that are raised by member countries very much is the importance for BRICS to take leadership for the global north in order to encourage the reform of multilateral systems," said Deputy Foreign Minister Tata.

Furthermore, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tata explained that the consolidation of South Global countries is considered very important in maintaining international stability and creating a conducive development space for developing countries.
In the forum, Indonesia also expressed support for reform efforts and welcomed solidarity between BRICS members to create a more inclusive and balanced world system.
"Therefore, the spirit was how BRICS could contribute to encouraging reform, to encourage the strengthening of the multilateral system itself," said Deputy Foreign Minister Tata.
