Flood Embankment In South Jakarta Sunday Market Is In The Process Of Being Repaired

JAKARTA - A number of officers from the South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-dept. (SDA) repaired the broken embankment in Mushalla Sabili, Jati Padang, Pasar Minggu due to flooding.

"Currently, the dam is first, when it is done, it will be cleaned later. Then it will be repaired later," said the People's Welfare Staff (Kesra) of Jati Padang Village, Bagus Iman, ANTARA, Monday, July 7.

Bagus said that currently officers and residents are trying to patch the embankment with sand wrapped in sacks. Then, later the embankment will be rebuilt if the water begins to recede.

It is suspected that the water-retaining embankment in RT 3/RW 6 Jati Padang could not withstand the swift floods, causing it to burst.

Meanwhile, a resident named Ratna explained that there have been about seven years of embankments that function as flood prevention.

But finally, the embankment broke down on Sunday, July 6 at around 17.30 WIB when it was still raining heavily.

"Yesterday it broke down in the afternoon, at 17.30 WIB. Yes, when I wanted to go Maghrib, but not many people," said Ratna.

Shortly after breaking, residents around the prayer room panicked and finally saved their belongings at home and prayer room.

As a result of the broken embankment, mud from time to time overflowed into the prayer room as well as fences and prayer glass was also damaged.

"Alhamdulillah, there were no unpleasant incidents. At least the glass of the prayer room broke, the fence collapsed," he said.

Seen at the location, Al Ridwan Mosque was seen clean and the refugees had gradually returned home.

Around the area, officers from the South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-dept. and residents were seen cleaning goods and roads.

In addition, there are also South Jakarta SDA officers who clean up the mud in Mushalla Sabili.

A total of 23 families (KK) or 75 people fled to the Al Ridwan Mosque as temporary shelters because they were affected by flooding in the area.
