First Present At The 2025 BRICS Summit, Prabowo Voices The Attitude Of The Republic Of Indonesia As A Bridge Builder

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto was first present at the BRICS Summit (KTT). Prabowo's presence also marked Indonesia's debut as a full member of BRICS. RI has joined BRICS since January 1, 2025.

The BRICS Summit was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 6 to 7, 2025. Indonesia itself has joined BRICS on January 1, 2025. Since joining BRICS, Indonesia has actively participated in at least 165 BRICS meetings under Brazil's Chairmanship, including 20 Ministerial Meetings.

Quoting an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), Sunday, July 6, Prabowo will use this first opportunity to voice Indonesia's attitude and position as a bridge-builder on various global issues and collective efforts in the midst of increasingly uncertain world situations.

In addition, as a country that is a member of the Global South as well as a member of the G20, Indonesia will also use the BRICS forum as a platform to fight for fairer and more inclusive global cooperation. Including advancing national interests in various fields of economy, finance, education and technology.

The 2025 BRICS Summit carries the theme "Strengthening Global South Cooperation to a More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance", and was attended by more than 30 leaders of BRICS members, partner countries, special invitations, and heads of international organizations.

In the forum, state leaders who are members of BRICS will discuss a number of global political and security issues, such as prolonged conflicts in various regions, global governance reforms and strengthening multilateralism.

Not only that, but BRICS leaders will also raise various problems and opportunities for economic and financial cooperation, as well as other issues such as artificial intelligence (AI) governance, environmental and climate action, and global health.

The implementation of the summit this time is expected to produce Leaders' Declaration which reflects the position and commitment of BRICS on political and security issues, economy and finance, as well as the sustainability of the involvement of various stakeholders within the framework of BRICS.

On the first day of the meeting, two plenary sessions will be held. The first Pleno raised the theme 'peace and Security and Reform of Global Governance' and the second themed Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence. Meanwhile, on the second day, the BRICS Summit will discuss the issue of Environment, COP30, and Global Health.
