Xpeng Starts The First Electric Car Rakit In Indonesia Using Handal Facilities

JAKARTA Erajaya Active Lifestyle together with Xpeng officially started a new era of electric vehicles in Indonesia, by assembling its first electric car locally at the PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM) facility, Purwakarta, West Java.

This inauguration is an important milestone. This is because Xpeng is the first automotive brand from China to produce electric vehicles abroad, and Indonesia was chosen as its first international market.

CEO of Erajaya Active Lifestyle, Djohan Sutanto, called this step a clear proof of the strong synergy between the private sector and the government, which has encouraged the acceleration of electrification through various progressive policies.

"We really appreciate the government's commitment to creating a conducive investment climate and supporting technology transfer," said Djohan in his official statement, Friday, July 4.

Furthermore, Djohan emphasized that the construction of this production facility is not only a business step, but also a form of long-term commitment to building a sustainable mobility ecosystem in Indonesia.

"In addition, this will also strengthen the competitiveness of the national automotive industry," he added.

Meanwhile, Xpeng General Manager of KD Operation Center, Steven Wang, emphasized that the localization process carried out was not just an ordinary assembly, but was building a global standard production foundation.

"The ADAS calibration equipment that we use follows the specifications of the Xpeng smart factory at the global level. That way, the smart driving feature in XPENG cars can function optimally according to the regulations in force in Indonesia," he explained.

The production facility is scheduled to fully operate in July 2025, and will produce the XPENG X9 model Completely Knock Down (CKD), covering the entire manufacturing process to final quality testing.

Not only focusing on production, but this factory is also expected to be a catalyst in the development of the national electric vehicle industry from creating quality employment opportunities, increasing the competence of local human resources in the field of automotive technology, to strengthening the supply chain of domestic components.
