Doctors In Cirebon Do Immorality To Co-workers Threatened With 12 Years In Prison

The doctor with the initials TW who committed immoral acts against his co-workers threatened a maximum prison sentence of 12 years based on Law (UU) Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence.

Head of Cirebon Police, Kombes Pol. Sumarni, said the suspect was subject to Article 6 letter a and/or letter c Jo Article 15 paragraph (1) letter b, with a maximum imprisonment of 12 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 300 million.

"Because it is carried out by medical personnel, criminal weighting also applies according to the provisions of the law," he said in Cirebon, Wednesday, July 2, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the incident of sexual violence against medical personnel occurred on December 12, 2024, at a health service office in Babakan District, Cirebon Regency.

At that time, said Sumarni, the suspect came to the location with a witness who was also an employee at the place.

According to him, upon arrival at the location, the perpetrator entered the examination room where the victim worked and in the room, the suspect was suspected of having committed acts of sexual violence.

"The mode is by attaching parts of the victim's body to the victim's body and holding parts of the victim's body without consent," he said.

He said the victim immediately reported the incident, because he felt he had been harassed by the perpetrator. Then from the results of the investigation and examination of witnesses, TW was finally named a suspect.

The police also secured evidence in the form of clothes worn by the victim at the time of the incident, to support the investigation process of the case.

"Currently the person concerned has been detained at the Cirebon Police detention center," he said.

He emphasized that investigators are still investigating the statements of a number of other witnesses, as well as completing the case files to be submitted to the prosecutor's office.

He emphasized that the Cirebon Police will take firm action against any form of sexual violence, including those committed by medical personnel.

"We encourage the public not to hesitate to report if they experience sexual violence. The legal process will be carried out professionally and victims will receive protection," he said.
