Mediation Of Residents' Complaints On Worship Disrupts Public Order, DKI DPRD: Don't Link Intolerance Issues

JAKARTA - Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD held a mediation between residents of Block C RW 12 West Cengkareng Village, West Jakarta and the management of Vihara Citiya Permata Dihati.

This mediation was carried out on reports from residents who complained about the implementation of the ritual of worship by the Vihara Cetiya Permata Dihati, which was considered disturbing public order because it closed the road.

The chairman of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD revealed that the DPRD was trying to resolve the problem by prioritizing deliberation between the two parties.

"This is where we meet so that a good compromise occurs, so that it can be carried out again," said Inggard at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Monday, June 30.

Inggad emphasized that the issue between residents and administrators of places of worship in Cengkareng Barat did not concern the problem of intolerance in worship activities. They, considered Inggad, only lacked good communication.

"Don't be associated with the issue of intolerance. This is not a matter of intolerance. Everyone has the right to carry out their worship, but don't disturb public order," said Inggad.

So, if there are any activities that disturb public order, all parties must comply and must not violate applicable regulations.

"We always support the community to worship according to their belief that it is guaranteed by law. However, the implementation of worship must also comply with statutory regulations, including the applicable regional regulation," said Inggard.

"Don't anyone slander as if Commission A prohibits citizens from worshiping," he continued.

Thus, Inggard hopes that the residents of RW 12 Cengkareng Barat will no longer have a dispute with Vihara Cetiya Permata Dihati and jointly find a solution.

"A small problem like this should not be brought to the realm of law, because it will only cause harm," he added.
