AI Band Appears On Spotify, Releases Two Albums And Reaches More Than 400 Thousand Listeners Less Than A Month
JAKARTA - The appearance of a band called The Velvet Sundown on Spotify has received attention because of its achievements. This band seems to be made with artificial intelligence (AI) because of its unusual and suspicious behavior.
Although not even a month since his account was created, The Velvet Sundown has garnered more than 400 thousand monthly listeners.
Not only that, suspicion arose because the band had released two full albums since the beginning of this month, namely 'Floating on Echoes' on June 5 and 'Dust in Silence' on June 20.
The third full album has also been prepared with the title 'Poper Sun Rellion', which is scheduled for release on July 14.
The first full album contains 13 songs, with a total duration of 37 minutes. Then for the second album, 13 songs with a total duration of 36 minutes.
In the catalog list, the song titled Dust on the Wind is the most heard with 382,766 listeners until this article is written, followed by Drift Beyond the Flame with 144,785 listeners. Meanwhile, for other songs, tens of thousands of listeners have reached.
In his profile, The Velvet Sundown consists of vocalist and mellotron expert Gabe Farrow, guitarist Lennie West, bassist-algemis synth Milo Rains, and free-hearted percussionist Orion Rio Del Mar. However, it is not mentioned the city and country of origin of this band.

Questions about The Velvet Sundown legitimacy emerged after Reddit users found the band on Discover Weekly playlists. They started digging to find little background information about them outside their Spotify profile.
Then, further speculation emerged on an Instagram account with the name @thevelvetsundownband, which featured their images that Redditors said looked very similar to AI's works.
Not only on Spotify, The Velvet Sundown songs are also available on other streaming platforms, including Apple Music and Deezer which have last developed technology to identify and flag AI-generated music publicly.
