Prabowo Inaugurates A Battery Industry Project Worth USD 5.9 Billion In Karawang
KARAWANG - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Groundbreaking of the Integrated Electric Battery Industry Ecosystem of the ANTAM-IBC-CBL Consortium in the Artha Industrial Hills (AIH) area in Karawang Regency, West Java, today, Sunday, June 29.
The Integrated Electric Battery Industry Ecosystem Project of the ANTAM-IBC-CBL Consortium is an industrial development from upstream to downstream consisting of six integrated projects jointly developed between PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam), Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC), and the CATL Consortium, Brunp, Lygend (CBL). Where 5 projects were developed in the East Halmahera FHT Area and 1 project was developed in Karawang.
"By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon, Sunday 29 June 2025, I am Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia inaugurated the Groundbreaking of the Integrated Electric Battery Industry Ecosystem of the ANTAM-IBC-CBL Consortium. Thus I declare that it will start," said Prabowo, Sunday, June 29.
Just so you know, the Integrated Electric Vehicle Battery Industry Ecosystem Project is part of the National Strategic Project (PSN) with an investment value of 5.9 billion US dollars and covers an area of 3,023 hectares and is able to absorb 8,000 direct workers, local economic growth, and 18 multifunctional dock infrastructure projects.
This project puts forward the principle of integrated and environmentally friendly development, supported by an energy supply from a combination of power plants such as PLTU 2 \times150 MW, PLTG 80 MW, a power plant from waste heat 30 MW, and a solar power plant of 172 MWp.
This makes FHT a strategic industrial area with a high sustainability and efficiency approach. Meanwhile, the battery factory located in Karawang will also implement a solar power plant of 24 MWp.
