Affected By Extreme Weather, BPBD Bintan-Kepri Helps Three Victims' Houses
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bintan Regency, Riau Islands Province (Kepri) helped repair three houses for victims of extreme weather in the coastal area of Penaga Village, Teluk Bintan District.
The Head of BPBD Bintan Ramlah in Tanjungpinang on Saturday afternoon, said that his team and relevant stakeholders immediately went to the scene after receiving reports that three houses of local residents were damaged by strong winds on Saturday morning.
"The BPBD team immediately calculated the impact of the damage to residents' houses, then discussed with the village government for repair assistance," said the Head of BPBD Bintan Ramlah as reported by ANTARA.
In addition, he said, the Bintan BPBD Team had also distributed logistical assistance in the form of food boxes (plastic boxes) for the three heads of families (KK) affected by the strong winds. Each box contains rice, bread, instant noodles, sugar, coffee, milk, and cooking oil.
Ramlah explained, the chronology of the disaster that occurred to the three houses of the victims began on Saturday morning, at around 08.00 WIB, there was strong winds accompanied by heavy rain, causing the roof to damage the walls of the house.
He detailed the impact and damage to the houses experienced by the victims, including Effendi's house being damaged on the roofs of the bathroom and kitchen.
Then, Sanu's house had damage to the roof of the bathroom and wall, as well as Alan's house was damaged on the walls of the house or broken.
"There is no loss of life in this incident. Each of the victims' families chose to stay at their homes, but still under our monitoring with related parties," said Ramlah.

He also appealed to the public, especially those living in coastal areas, to be alert to the potential for extreme weather recently, as stated by the Tanjungpinang BMKG.
He also reminded the public not to take shelter under trees or outside the home, including the threat of electricity during extreme weather.
"BPBD is always on standby for 1 24 hours to anticipate disaster conditions due to extreme weather. Hopefully extreme weather will not drag on in the future," said Ramlah.
