Earthquake Shakes South Philippines
JAKARTA - A tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 rocked the area off the East coast of Saranani, Davao Ocidental Province, South Philippines on Saturday. However, there have been no reports of damage or casualties, as well as tsunami warnings.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the epicenter of the earthquake was about 98 kilometers east of Sarangani Island with a depth of 10 kilometers.
According to the Manila Times, citing Phivolcs' statement, the earthquake was a tectonic earthquake with Intensity V on a Phivolcs scale.
The tremors of the earthquake with Intensity V were felt in Malungon, Sarangani while vibrations with Intensity IV (four) were recorded in Kiamba, Saranani, and General Santos City, South Cotabato.
