Minister Of Culture Calls Reyog Ponorogo A Real Form Of Indonesian Cultural Wealth
JAKARTA - As part of the nation's cultural heritage, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon appreciated the local government's efforts to preserve Reyog Ponorogo.
He said that the presence of community leaders and residents at the closing ceremony of Grebeg Suro in Ponorogo Square, East Java, Thursday (26/6), showed people's love for Reyog Ponorogo.
"Reyog Ponorogo is a tangible manifestation of Indonesia's cultural wealth," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 27.
He said that UNESCO designated Reyog Ponorogo as the world's intangible cultural heritage on December 3, 2024.
According to him, the determination of Reyog Ponorogo as a world's intangible cultural heritage is the fruit of the long efforts of community leaders, artists, culturalists, and associations.

The Minister of Culture hopes that Grebeg Suro will continue to be implemented to support the preservation of Reyog Ponorogo.
Grebeg Suro is an annual celebration that will be held to welcome the Islamic new year.
Grebeg Suro in 2025 includes 32 events, including art and cultural performances as well as religious activities. The main agenda is the Reyog Ponorogo festival.
Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko said that Grebeg Suro is not just an annual celebration, but an art and cultural stage as well as a regional creative product storefront.
According to him, this annual event is a manifestation of efforts to preserve cultural heritage and increase tourism businesses and the creative economy.
