BPJS Health: 98.45 Percent Of Indonesians Have Been Registered With JKN As Of The End Of 2024

JAKARTA - Head of BPJS Kesehatan Ghufron Mukti said that 98.45 percent of Indonesians had been registered with the National Health Insurance (JKN) as of December 31, 2024.

"The coverage of BPJS Health participants in 2024 is 278.1 million people, an increase from 2023, namely 267.3 million people. The Universal Health Coverage (UHC) coverage currently reaches 35 provinces in 473 districts/cities throughout Indonesia," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

Ghufron also stated that BPJS Kesehatan implemented a compensation policy for regions where there were no eligible health facilities (DBTFMS) as a commitment to providing adequate and accessible health services to the entire community.

"This compensation is in the form of sending health workers, collaborating with mobile health facilities, or collaborating with health facilities with certain criteria," he said.

The 2026 BPJS Health pick-up health service has reached 11 provinces at 46 location points. The 11 provinces are North Sumatra, North Kalimantan, Maluku, North Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, Papua, Southwest Papua, Papua Mountains, South Papua, Central Papua, and Southeast Sulawesi.

Ghufron also said that the JKN participant satisfaction index continued to increase over the past five years. In 2020, the satisfaction index was at 81.5, while in 2024, this figure increased significantly to 92.15.

"The increase in the index is the result of easy, fast, and equal service commitments. It is easy to access health services including the process or administrative flow, and fast in queuing services in health facilities, as well as when you need information and complaint services," he explained.

Then, it is also an equivalent commitment in obtaining recognition when accessing JKN services without discriminating.

Based on the indicators set by the National Health Insurance Council (DJSN), BPJS Kesehatan in 2024 also obtained a very good category with a score of 113.53 from the target 100.

"In 2024, BPJS Kesehatan also recorded a significant increase in the Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI) score held by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), from the previous 72.29 in 2023, to 82.06 in 2024," he said.

Ghufron also stated that the JKN Program has changed many health services in Indonesia to be better, fairer, and more affordable for all levels of society.

"Therefore, it is necessary to synergize all elements in the JKN program ecosystem. The JKN program needs to be supported together, so that it can run sustainably, providing benefits for participants who need access to health services," said Ghufron Mukti.
