Minister Of Manpower Beware Of The Threat Of Mass Layoffs Due To The Iran-Israeli Conflict

JAKARTA - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli admitted that the Iran-Israeli conflict will have an impact on the national industry, especially those oriented to exports. According to him, this geopolitical issue directly will certainly affect global economic growth.

"We must continue to monitor this. My predictions personally, this will certainly have an impact on industries exporting abroad. Because of course, geopolitical conditions will have an impact on global economic growth," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 24.

Therefore, Yassierli admitted that his party was aware of the impact of the Iran-Israel war by preparing several strategic steps, including mitigating the threat of termination of employment or mass layoffs.

"We already have a grand design for mitigating layoffs, how then specific programs," he said.

Yassierli said this mitigation was through several programs such as Job Loss Guarantee (JKP), which would facilitate layoff victims through the provision of cash assistance, job training, and information on new job vacancies.

"Then we also coordinate with the Regional Manpower Office. We coordinate/consolidate, and we do it regularly. We also coordinate with the ministry," he said.

Furthermore, Yassierli emphasized how this global geopolitical condition must be responded together.

"Because the end is downstream is the Ministry of Manpower," he explained.
