President Prabowo Signs Presidential Instruction To Accelerate Enggano Development
President Prabowo Subianto signed a Presidential Instruction (Inpres) on efforts to accelerate the construction of Indonesia's outermost islands in Bengkulu Province, Enggano Island.
"Right now, I have signed the Presidential Instruction to accelerate the smooth development in Enggano. Bismillairrahmanirrahim," said President Prabowo Subianto as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 24.
Prabowo expressed his hope for the people of Enggano Island, North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu to keep their spirits up.
"I hope the people of Enggano will remain enthusiastic, we will continue to help and encourage development in Enggano," said President Prabowo.
Enggano Island is the outermost island located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, about 156 km or 90 nautical miles from Bengkulu City. To reach the outer islands of Indonesia in Bengkulu, one of them utilizes sea transportation.
If you sail to Enggano Island by ferry, it will take at least 12 hours.
However, since the last three months the port of Baai Island, Bengkulu City, has been silting the flow, activities in and out of the port pier have become disrupted.
This also disrupted shipping activities using a ferry to Enggano Island. Enggano community access is constrained, because ferry boats cannot enter and exit the port of Baai Island Port.
