Puan Opens Opportunities For The Form Of A Special Committee For The Evaluation Of Hajj 2025
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, opened the option of forming a special committee (Pansus) to evaluate the implementation of the 2025 Hajj. Following the five points of criticism given by Saudi Arabia against Indonesia for organizing this year's Hajj.
Puan initially responded to a diplomatic note from the Saudi Arabian Ambassador regarding the dynamics of organizing the 2025 Hajj. One of them is related to the high death rate of Indonesian pilgrims which reached 50 percent of the total deaths of international pilgrims before the peak of the pilgrimage began.
Puan said that the memorandum had been resolved together and was internal before the implementation of the peak of the hajj began.
"The five points of the note have been completed for a long time, it has been completed by the government, so when the implementation of the Hajj now it is actually all finished," said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 24.
Puan realizes that there are still many problems in organizing the Hajj that must be addressed. The evaluation aims to prevent problems that arise in the 2025 Hajj from happening again in the following years.
"However, in the implementation of the Hajj this time, there are many things that we have to evaluate, we have to finish many things better so that the implementation of the Hajj next year will not happen again," said Puan.
Puan said that Commission VIII of the DPR RI will soon hold a meeting to evaluate the implementation of the 2025 Hajj with the government and the leadership of the DPR RI who are involved in the DPR Hajj Team in Saudi Arabia.
"Today we have just opened the trial period, we will get reports of the three DPR leaders participating in this year's Hajj. We will also get reports from friends and Commission VIII," said Puan.
If there are many problems in organizing the 2025 Hajj that must be corrected, it is possible for the DPR to form a hajj committee to investigate this matter.
"After that, if the Hajj Special Committee has to be carried out for future improvements, we are the DPR, in accordance with the mechanism, we will carry out the Hajj Special Committee," said Puan.
