Former Bandung Regional Secretary For CCTV Corruption Defendant Sentenced To 5.5 Years In Prison
The panel of judges at the Bandung Corruption Court, West Java, sentenced the former Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Bandung City Ema Sumarna as a defendant in the bribery and gratification case for the procurement of CCTV Bandung Smart City.
In addition to the criminal sentence, the judge in the verdict hearing at the Bandung Corruption Court also sentenced Ema Sumarna to pay a fine of Rp. 200 million, subsidiary to four months in prison.
Chief Judge Dodong Iman Rusdani in his ruling stated that the defendant Ema Sumarna was legally and convincingly proven to have committed a criminal act of corruption accepting gratuities and giving bribes in the CCTV procurement project case at the Bandung City Transportation Service.
"The trial, declared the defendant Ema Sumarna legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption as the first cumulative indictment and the second cumulative indictment," said Dodong as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 24.
The panel of judges stated that the defendant Ema Sumarna was proven to have given bribes worth Rp. 1 billion to smooth out a number of projects at the Bandung City Transportation Agency.
The money was received by four members of the Bandung City DPRD, namely Achmad Nugraha for Rp. 200 million, Riantono for Rp. 270 million, Yudi Cahyadi for Rp. 500 million and Ferry for Cahyadi for Rp. 30 million.
"The trial, stated that Ema Sumarna was legally and convincingly proven to have committed acts of corruption together with the continued charges of several acts and corruption," he said.

The panel of judges said the aggravating thing was because the defendant Ema did not support the government's program in eradicating corruption.
The verdict of the panel of judges was lower than the demands of the public prosecutor from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which previously demanded that the defendant be sentenced to 6.5 years in prison.
