Gerindra Legislators 2 Times Not Responding To Calls, KPK Prepares Further Steps
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Gerindra Party faction Anwar Sadad twice did not fulfill the summons in the bribery case for the management of grant funds for community groups or pokmas from the East Java Provincial Budget for the 2019-2022 Fiscal Year.
KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said Anwar should have been questioned at the East Java BPKP Office on Monday, June 23. However, the legislator conveyed the postponement of the examination.
"The US witness did not attend on the grounds that there was a diversity activity," Budi told reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, June 24.
Budi said this is not the first time Anwar has avoided an examination. "This is the second call," he said.
"On the first call, the person concerned reasoned that there was a need related to the party," continued Budi.
In the future, Budi ensures that investigators will follow up and do not rule out the opportunity to pick them up forcibly. All the reasons Anwar conveyed have been recorded.
"Investigators certainly note all the reasons involved and will take steps in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.
Previously reported, the KPK has confiscated a number of assets that allegedly belonged to Anwar Sadad, who is a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Gerindra Party faction. The forced effort was carried out in connection with bribery in managing grant funds for community groups from the East Java Provincial Budget for Fiscal Year 2021-2022.
One of the assets included four plots of land and buildings in the Probolinggo, Banyuwangi, and Pasuruan areas on May 15-22. All of them were purchased at a price of Rp. 8 billion and the estimated value has now reached Rp. 10 billion.
