Minister Of Karding To Prospective Migrant Workers: Prepare Mental, Language And Skills

JAKARTA - Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding asked prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) in the health sector to understand the importance of procedural departure and thorough competency readiness.

He conveyed this after giving a public lecture entitled 'Appointing a Global Career: Opportunities, Challenges and Strategies for Health Workers Abroad' at the Ministry of Health's Health Polytechnic (Poltekkes Kemenkes), Bekasi, Tuesday, June 24.

"If he leaves procedurally then he will be safe, for sure," said Karding.

Karding also emphasized that mentality, language, and skills are the main keys that Indonesian workers must have who want to pursue careers abroad.

The fundamental one, one: mental, and it must be trained. The second is language. The third, which is no less important, is skill. This is what we have to prepare," he said.

In addition, it was also conveyed that working abroad is not only about high income, but also an opportunity to gain knowledge, work ethic, and professionalism that can be brought back to the country.

When they return to Indonesia, they will bring positive viruses: professionalism, discipline, how they work, attitude. All of that will change in a better direction," he added.

On this occasion, Karding also revealed a cooperation plan between the Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KemenP2MI) and the Ministry of Health which will be signed in the near future.

"This cooperation will map and consolidate the potential of health workers and graduates of Poltekkes, which reaches 5,000 people every year, but only about 60 percent are absorbed," said Karding.
