Solve The Issue Of Enggano Island, Puan Appoints Dasco To The Government Meeting Today

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, appointed Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, to lead representatives of the House of Representatives to attend a coordination meeting with the government today.

The meeting was held to discuss solving the problem of Enggano Island which was isolated due to shallow water.

Dasco said the DPR and the government were asked by President Prabowo Subianto to resolve the issue of Enggano Island along with the dispute over four islands in Sumatra and Aceh yesterday.

"The chairman of the DPR and I are asked to communicate with the President for the island of Enggano, regarding the settlements carried out with temporary communication that are still being carried out by Pelindo for port dredging," said Dasco during a press conference, Tuesday, June 24.

"In this case, I have been asked by Mbak Puan to represent the DPR. We will hold a coordination meeting with the government to complete the Enggano problem. Hopefully all the steps that will be taken will be completed in a coordination meeting today," he continued.

Meanwhile, Puan said the DPR and the government had communicated informally and were committed to resolving the Enggano Island crisis.

Until now, people on the island cannot sell crops, access to health services is hampered, and local economic activity is paralyzed.

"The government and the DPR RI have spoken informally and will resolve it as soon as possible, and of course the island's problems should not happen again," said Puan accompanied by Dasco.
