Tito Karnavian Issues Minister Of Home Affairs For Ratification Of 4 Islands Back To Aceh

BANDA ACEH - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian has signed a decision regarding the four islands of Aceh, which previously had disputes with the province of North Sumatra, to re-enter the province of Aceh.

"The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a decree to ratify and re-place four islands to Aceh," said Director General of Regional Administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal ZA, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 24.

Safrizal said the latest Minister of Home Affairs with Number 300.2.2-2430 of 2025 concerning Amendments to the Minister of Home Affairs Decree Number 300.2.2-2138 concerning Code Provision and Update, Regional Data on Government and Island Administration Regions.

The Minister of Home Affairs has divided and placed four islands, namely Panjang Island, Lipan, Mangkir Gadang (large) and Mangkir Ketek (small) into administrative parts of Aceh province.

Safrizal hopes that with the return of the four islands, they can be managed optimally and provide benefits for the people of Aceh.

"Hopefully, these four islands can later be built and fostered so that it is beneficial for the community," said Safrizal ZA.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto set four islands with regional boundaries between Aceh and North Sumatra to re-enter the administrative area of Aceh Province.

The basis for returning the four islands belonging to Aceh that were given to North Sumatra was after evidence of a joint agreement between the Governor of Aceh and the Governor of North Sumatra in 1992 regarding the ownership of the island belonging to Aceh.

After being re-determined to belong to Aceh by the President, the President also signed a re-deal between Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf and North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution who stated that the four islands entered the Aceh region.
