The Riau Islands Anambas Island Is Sold! Deputy Minister Of Home Affairs: Can't Be Fully Owned
SUMEDANG - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya Sugiarto spoke about the excitement of the sale of a number of islands in Anambas Islands Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri) on overseas buying and selling sites.
In his statement on the sidelines of the Second Wave Retretation activity at the Jatinangor IPDN, Sumedang, Monday, June 23, Bima Arya emphasized that none of the islands in Indonesia can be fully owned by private or foreign parties.
"There is no island that can be owned personally, overall. There are limits, there is a law. A maximum of 70 percent," said Bima Arya.
According to him, even if an island or land can be rented or managed, there are still strict legal limits governing its ownership. This is to maintain the sovereignty and people's rights to Indonesian territory.
"Even if it's rented, the portion still can't be overall. That's already regulated," he said.
As a further step, the Ministry of Home Affairs will immediately carry out an inventory of strategic and vulnerable areas, including small islands that need special regulatory protection.
This step is taken to ensure that there are no legal loopholes that can be used by certain parties to trade Indonesian territory illegally, especially on international platforms.
