Case Of Baby In Bima Amputated, Police Investigate Alleged Malapractic Medical Handling
JAKARTA - The Bima Resort Police (Polres) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is investigating allegations of malpractice in medical treatment of a 4-month-old baby who eventually had to get a left hand amputation action.
"Is there a violation of the SOP (standard operating procedure)? That's what we are investigating," said Head of the Bima Police Satreskrim Adjunct Commissioner Abdul Malik by telephone, Monday, June 23, confiscated by Antara.
The violation refers to the rule of Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health. In the regulation, there are rules that state that medical personnel who are proven to have medical malpractice can be subject to sanctions, both discipline and crime.
Malik said that the handling of the case that led to the alleged medical malpractice of this baby named Arumi Aghnia Azkayra is still in the investigation stage.
During this stage, the police carried out a series of data collection and information from various parties who knew and were involved in medical prosecution against Arumi.
"In total there are already dozens of people, there are also medical personnel from various health facilities," he said.

When the material for the investigation has been completed, the police will compile a report on the results of the investigation (LHP) and submit it to the professional disciplinary assembly (MDP), an independent institution that enforces professional discipline and ethics in the health sector.
"The results will determine whether or not this case will go up to the investigation stage," he said.
This case stems from Arumi's health condition, which has a fever. The family then took him to the Bolo Health Center.
Health center medical personnel then took action by pairing an IV on Arumi. A few days of treatment, Arumi's hands swelled and blackened, making his health condition worse.
Due to this condition, Arumi was then referred by the puskesmas to the Sondosia Hospital and continued to the Bima Hospital because of a medical diagnosis that his condition was getting worse, medical personnel took action by amputating the left hand which was previously installed with the infusion on June 17, 2025.
