Hazardous Reasons If Consumed Excessively, Ambon Police Destroys 3,800 Liters Of Sopi Traditional Drinks
JAKARTA - The police destroyed 3,800 liters of traditional sopi liquor which was confiscated by the police in the area.
"Thousands of liters of sopi type liquor were confiscated from various Polsek in the jurisdiction of the Ambon Police," said Ambon Police Deputy Chief, AKBP Nur Rahman, in Ambon, Monday, June 23, as reported by Antara.
He said the sopi-type liquor was mostly confiscated by the Yos Sudarso Ambon Port Police from passengers, which was around 2,500 liters.
In addition, at the Sirimau Police Station there are 15 liters, the Nusaniwe Police 50 liters, the Baguala Police 750 liters, the Teluk Ambon Police 85 liters and the Salahutu Police 400 liters.
According to him, the extermination action was carried out because the practice of circulation had violated the Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 74 of 2013 concerning Control and Supervision of Alcoholic Drinks.
"Then also Maluku Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2015 concerning Control and Supervision of Alcoholic Drinks.
According to him, this traditional liquor, if consumed without rules and excessive, can endanger the community.
"This hard drink when consumed with no provisions and maybe more than what is there can endanger the community as well," he said.

He emphasized that the police will apply minor crimes for those who distribute and consume this illegal liquor.
Meanwhile, the City Secretary Robby Sapulette emphasized that to tighten the possible route for the circulation of sopi in Ambon City as an effort to maintain order in this city.
