The Performance Of Law Enforcement Officials Increases, The Dissolution Of The Saber Extortion Task Force Is Appropriate

JAKARTA - Director of Research Trust Indonesia, Ahmad Fadhli, assessed that the disbandment of the Illegal Sweeping Sweeping Task Force (Satgas Saber Pungli) by President Prabowo Subianto was the right decision amid increasing the performance of law enforcement officials.

Previously, President Prabowo officially dissolved the Saber Extortion Task Force formed by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) through Presidential Decree No. 49 of 2025 concerning the Revocation of Presidential Regulation No. 87 of 2016 concerning the Illegal Sweeping Task Force.

In the Presidential Decree, it was explained why President Prabowo officially eliminated Jokowi's policy. The revocation of this rule is because the Saber Extortion Task Force is considered ineffective, so it needs to be disbanded.

"That the existence of the Illegal Sweeping Sweeping Task Force is no longer effective, so it is necessary to dissolve the Illegal Sweeping Sweeping Task Force as stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 87 of 2016 concerning the Illegal Sweeping Sweeping Task Force," reads one of the consideration points.

"I think from the rules of the game there is no problem, right. If the consideration is productivity, right. If productivity is not productive, I think if it must be disbanded, why should it be maintained," said Fadhli, Sunday, June 22, 2025.

According to him, the actions of the Saber Extortion Task Force, which is almost ten years old (since 2016) seem to no longer have performance in today's era. Moreover, currently, law enforcement officers have quite increased in eradicating existing crimes. An example is the success of the Attorney General's Office in uncovering various large-scale cases.

"I think this should be optimized. Especially the police don't mess around anymore. Don't be a dirty broom, right, dirty the broom. And I think what Pak Prabowo has done is right. It's just that the important thing is how to strengthen the law enforcement agencies in Indonesia," he said.
