TNI Moves Quickly To Respond To The Threat Of The Second Bomb On The Aircraft Carrying Hajj Pilgrims, Passengers Are Safe And Safe
JAKARTA The Indonesian National Army (TNI) acted quickly with relevant agencies in response to reports of the threat of bombs for the second time on planes carrying pilgrims. This time, the threat was received against Saudi Arabia Airlines SV 5688 aircraft carrying 376 pilgrims on the Jeddah Route "Muscat" Surabaya, Saturday, June 21.
Initial information was received by Airnav Kualanamu at around 08.55 WIB, after the pilot of the plane reported an alleged bomb in the cabin. In coordination with Airnav, the pilot decided to make an emergency landing (divert) to Kualanamu International Airport. The plane landed safely at 09.27 WIB and was immediately positioned on taxiway A5 for the evacuation and follow-up inspection process.
In the plane there were 376 people, consisting of 196 male passengers, 180 female, and 10 crew. All passengers were evacuated in an orderly manner to the airport terminal for a thorough security check by the joint apparatus.
The TNI is mobilizing full strength to ensure the safety of passengers and airport security. Kodam I/Bukit Barisan deployed 1 Company Level Unit (SSK) Yonkav 6/NK, 1 SST Jihandak Yonzipur 1/DD, and was supported by 1 SST Kopasgat TNI AU and 1 SST Gegana Brimob North Sumatra Police.
The Jihandak Kodam I/Bukit Barisan team together with Soewondo Air Base and North Sumatra Police Mobile Brigade immediately carried out a thorough sterilization of aircraft and passenger belongings.
This emergency response is a form of implementation of Military Operations Apart from War (OMSP) in accordance with Article 7 paragraph (2) of Law Number 3 of 2025 which is an amendment to Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the TNI, where the TNI has a special mandate to handle acts of terrorism in the country.

In his official statement in Jakarta, the Head of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. Kristomei Sianturi, confirmed that as of 18.30 WIB, all passengers were safe and moved to three hotels around the airport area to get further treatment.

Major General Kristomei emphasized that the TNI will continue to ensure the safety of the people in all emergency conditions. He emphasized the importance of fast synergy across agencies to deal with serious incidents like this professionally and proportionally.
